Our Story
I (Julie) started making soap a few Christmases ago as a way to give low waste, sustainable gifts to
friends and family. I started Lather and Smudge and make cold process soap the old fashioned way. Natural
ingredients, poured into wooden moulds, cut after 24h and left to cure for at least 6 weeks. The longer
the cure, the creamier the bar!
My husband/sidekick Rob is the shampoo guy. He started out in research Chemistry but has now taken
the plunge into the family business and is loving it! Look how proud he looks of his handywork.
Together we run our little family business from the Scottish Highlands in Killiecrankie, just north
of Pitlochry, at the entrance to the Cairngorms.
